If you’ve been wondering about the shiny silver metal objects popping up along The Strand next to the river – those are the baskets for the Reefton Disc Golf course. The teepad lines, made from wood and pavers, guide players as they make their way around the 6 hole course. You can find the course easily using the temporary signs and familiarise yourself with the disc golfer’s code – safety comes first!
This project to bring a new and exciting sport to our town is a collaboration between Buller District Council, Reefton Inc, and Sport Tasman, with support from Westport Disc Golf Club. The course is part of a wider initiative to continue The Strand revitalisation and enhance recreational facilities. Alongside disc golf, a brand new 3×3 basketball court is under construction, and new picnic tables will soon be available for all to enjoy.
If you’re new to disc golf, you can hire or purchase discs from Reefton Sports. Maps and information are available at the Reefton Visitor & Service Centre.
