The Oddfellows Hall located on Bridge Street is one of Reefton’s valued original buildings. The building was used in August 1888 as a lighting showcase of the first public electricity supply in New Zealand. The Hall has been used for many community uses since it’s inception such as the Salvation Army, Oddfellows and Druids, Baptist Church, the Reefton Post Office, guides and scouts, and occasionally functions such as wedding receptions were held there. More recently the Hall has been the venue for regular music workshops and theatrical productions.
Volunteers open the Hall to show visitors “Little Reefton” our miniature 1960’s town and practice their saxophones.
